Migration of your buckets
on the new Hive backend in Paris
Hi there,
Because product performance remains a key priority, we are upgrading the Object Storage platform in the Paris region to the new Hive backend.
Hive is a scalable, globally-distributed database designed to scale up to millions of different machines ensuring high scalability and low latency. This will also improve the availability of your data when using Object Storage thanks to the Multi-AZ class available by design on all your buckets. Check out the Hive white paper to learn more about the solution.
What does it mean?
After the migration, Multi-AZ class will be available for all your buckets with a “Multi-AZ Compatible” flag to inform you.
All new objects will be Multi-AZ by default . This will improve the resiliency of your data and availability of it. Multi-AZ price will apply to those new objects and may increase your invoice. If you would rather use the One-Zone IA class, you can access the related documentation.
For objects created before the migration , they will be automatically moved to One-Zone IA class without any pricing change.
Next steps?
You will receive a second email early May with the time frame when your buckets will be migrated. The migration does not require your intervention, but your concerned buckets are expected to successively shift to read-only mode for a maximum of 10 minutes (depending on the number of objects) during the process.
If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to contact us.
Thank you for your understanding,
